A scalp vein set is a sterile, single-use, winged infusion device designed for venipuncture and short-term intravenous access or blood sampling, especially in infants, elderly patients, or those with fragile veins. It provides excellent control during insertion and reduces the risk of vein trauma.
Stainless Steel Needle:
Short, thin-walled needle with a sharp beveled tip for atraumatic vein entry.
Available in various gauges (commonly 18Gï27G) to suit different patient needs.
Flexible "Butterflyï Wings:
Located on either side of the needle hub for stable grip and positioning during insertion.
Allow for taping down to minimize movement and discomfort.
Transparent Tubing:
Approximately 20ï30 cm long, kink-resistant, and clear for easy visual monitoring of blood flow and backflow.
Attached between the needle and connector to allow flexibility and reduce vein irritation.
Luer Connector (Male/Female):
Connects easily to a syringe, vacuum blood collection tube, or IV line.
May be slip or lock-type, depending on usage.
Color-Coded Hub:
Indicates needle gauge size for quick identification (e.g., light blue = 23G, orange = 25G).
