A 3-way stopcock is a compact, manually operated valve used in medical settings to control the direction of fluid flow between three connected channels. It allows for sampling, administration of fluids or medications, and connection to monitoring devices without repeatedly disconnecting lines.
Three Ports (Luer Lock/Snap Fit):
Each port can connect to an IV line, syringe, or monitoring system.
Usually labeled as A, B, and C or indicated by port direction.
Rotating Tap/Handle (360 Movement):
The handle controls which ports are open or closed.
Standard configuration allows two ports to be open at a time, with the third closed.
Easy-to-read arrow indicates direction of flow.
Leak-Proof Design:
Engineered for secure, leak-free connections under pressure.
Sterile and disposable to reduce infection risk.
Pressure-Resistant:
Tolerates high pressures (typically up to 4.5 bar / 65 psi), suitable for use in invasive blood pressure monitoring or with pressure infusers.
Material:
Made from medical-grade polycarbonate and polyethylene.
Latex-free and DEHP-free.
Optional Extension Tubing:
Some models include pre-attached tubing for added reach or specific setups.
IV fluid and medication administration
Simultaneous infusion and blood sampling
Arterial and central venous pressure monitoring
Contrast media injection during imaging procedures
